Frances Madden is becoming one of Sydney’s most exciting and in-demand emerging contemporary artists. Described by ABC Classic FM’s Mal Stanley as “one to watch” in the coming years, Frances Madden is a sophisticated and classy vocalist, pianist and original songwriter. Her music has a fresh and universal charm with a distinctly contemporary approach to the art of Jazz recording and performance.Frances Madden’s original songs and distinctive interpretation of Classics and Jazz standards often take her sound beyond the Jazz genre – embracing elements of swing, the blues and even pop at times. This reinforces the uniqueness of her sound and appeal, while always complimenting her core artistic purpose. Frances Madden performs with her band at many of Sydney’s leading venues and she has residencies at the Park Hyatt, the Sofitel Wentworth and the Star Casino, amongst others. She grew up listening to artists like Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Eva Cassidy and Ella Fitzgerald who she acknowledges as influences. Frances Madden has been a musician since early childhood. She studied classical piano while at primary school before developing a passion for Jazz and Contemporary music which ultimately lead her to take vocal training as well in later years.Frances Madden completed a Degree in Music Performance at the Australian Institute of Music and since graduating has managed to establish herself as a viable professional performing artist
